Rainy Siagian (b.1994) is an artist and researcher born in Indonesia, grew up in Belgium, and is currently living and working in-between Reykjavik and Brussels. Her works originate from a strong interest in the theoretical, physical, ideological, political and critical meaning of what space entails. She sees ‘space’ as a subjectivity in flux. A necessity in order to function in society, and as a process of becoming.

Siagian uses the methodology of nomadic theories, which often depict of senses of belonging. Perpetually she engage herself in dynamic relations with her current tangible surroundings. Her works embodies in various mediums that follow an exploration to create a deeper understanding of new ways of perceiving space.

She received her MFA from The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium in 2018. Her works have been exhibited in De Romaanse Poort, Leuven (2022), in Siilk Gallery, Athens (2019), and has appeared in publication such as Aint-Bad Magazine, C41 Magazine, PhaseMagazine, among many others.

She is currently working on her long-term research project The Nomadic Phenomenon of Alternative Museum Making: (Re)imagining what a museum is
and can be
, a research that questions whether museum can exist outside the institutions.
